Mandatory eye exams for children in Illinois

Children in Illinois are required to have a comprehensive eye exam from an optometrist or ophthalmologist before starting kindergarten. This includes children who move to Illinois from another state – they must receive an exam before starting at any Illlinois school.

Don’t forget to bring your child’s Eye Examination Report to the appointment. You can find a copy here.

Eye exam insurance coverage

Eye Boutique in Aurora accepts most vision plans, including VSP. You may know your vision insurance covers routine eye exams, though an Eye Boutique specialist can let you know if they’ll cover contacts or glasses, too. We also offer flexible spending accounts for both eye exams and eyewear.

If you have a medical condition affecting your eye health (such as pink eye or glaucoma) your medical insurance may be billed. We’re happy to do an insurance check and explain your benefits.
