Mandatory eye exams for children in Illinois
Children in Illinois are required to have a comprehensive eye exam from an optometrist or ophthalmologist before they start kindergarten. This includes children who move to Illinois from another state. They must also get an eye exam when enrolling for the first time in any Illinois school.
Don’t forget to bring your child’s Eye Examination Report to the appointment. You can find a copy here.
Eye exam insurance coverage
Our Crystal Lake vision care center accepts most vision plans including VSP insurance. You may know that your vision insurance covers routine eye exams, though an Eye Boutique specialist can let you know if they’ll cover part of your eyeglasses or contact lenses as well. We also take flexible spending accounts for eye exams and eyewear.
Suffering with a medical condition that’s affecting your eye health? (i.e. pink eye, glaucoma or macular degeneration) Your medical insurance may also be billed. We’re happy to check with your insurance and explain your specific benefits.
