Mandatory eye exams for children in Illinois
Illinois requires all children to have a comprehensive eye exam from an optometrist or ophthalmologist before starting kindergarten. Children who move to Illinois from another state are also required to have an eye exam when enrolling for the first time in any Illinois school.
Be sure to bring your child’s Eye Examination Report to the appointment. You can find a copy here.
Eye exam insurance coverage
Our Geneva vision care center accepts most vision plans including VSP eye insurance. Vision insurance plans usually cover routine eye exams and may even pay for part of your eyeglasses or contact lenses. Flexible spending accounts can be used to pay for eye exams and eyewear.
Your medical insurance may also be billed if you’re facing a medical condition that affects your eye health (such as pink eye, glaucoma or macular degeneration). Eye boutique is happy to do an insurance check and explain your benefits.
